Type Locality and Naming

The type section lies south of Kazhaguole and Jiqikebulak, Mori County, Xinjiang. It was named by Gao Yunsheng in 1970.


Lithology and Thickness

Sandstone and Volcaniclastics. Gray, gray-green and purple-gray feldspar grit, feldspar siltstone, calcareous sandstone, siltstone and carbonaceous-clayey sandstone, intercalated with conglomerate and minor pebbly grit and conglomerate, thin- to moderately thick-bedded ash tuff; exposed thickness 2896 m. Eastward to the east of Qijiaojing Valley of Kazhahe, volcanic lavas and pyroclastic rocks increase, dominated by gray-green dacite, basalt and tuff, and the exposed thickness increases to 5755.1 m.
